The painter and decorator @dandyandy66 @charcoalinteriorsuk had an early Sunday morning start. Luckily, he was very reasonable- he worked for coffee and workwear!

And our signwriter (ever so neatly!) hand painted Bobby & Dandy onto the shop fascia. Nick of Signwork has been a signwriter for over 35 years. He is based in Hastings and has painted fabulous designs for many local businesses in town and across Sussex and Kent. signs@signwork.plus.com

I loved having a visit and a good ol’ chat about vintage clothing with Lloyd Johnson today! As the founder of the renowned ‘Johnson’s The Modern Outfitter’ and ‘La Rocka!’, it’s great to know that he was born in Hastings and often pops back.

Only a few weeks ago, a Bobby & Dandy customer mentioned that she had met Lloyd on the Kings Road in the late 1970s, striking up conversation about the vintage Mary Maxim Cowichan which she was wearing.

A fashion entrepreneur, Lloyd had many boutiques in London including Kensington Market, King’s Road, Portobello Road, Floral Street and Endell Street, Covent Garden, selling Mod, Tiki, Beatnik, Rockabilly and Western apparel.

“His independent London boutiques created a strong international following among popular music performers and celebrities from the 1960s to the 1990s, including Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Jack Nicholson, David Bailey, Jonathan Ross, The Clash, Shakin‘ Stevens, Madness, George Michael, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Fun Lovin Criminals, Oasis and The Pretenders.” (Quote: Wiki) Also, Siouxsie Sioux!
