True Vintage ‘Mexicana’ Cowichan Cardigan
Rare!
Vintage hand knit Cowichan, originally knitted from the 1950s Mary Maxim pattern, ‘Mexicana’ (pictured).
It has a wonderful, fun & vibrant design, based on the traditional 1940s/50s Mexican tourist jacket style, and features motifs including a man wearing a sombrero and serape with donkey to reverse, cacti, flowers, a palm tree, pots, cacti and flowers, sombrero and 3D serape scarf.
It is fashioned a longer length than most traditional Cowichans, fashioned in chunky wool with collar, hip pockets and front buttons fastenings.
This cardigan is in good condition. A few small imperfections and two minor mends (one at collar seam and one to sleeve.
