True Vintage 1950s Cowichan Cardigan

“This cardigan is a British imitation of American 'preppy' style chunky cardigans featuring novelty images. This design promotes the Birmingham Small Arms Company, a business that started as a gun manufacturer but went on to become the world's largest producer of

motorcycles. The cardigan would have been worn to a competitive event or on a promotional tour. Circa 1950s.”

Hand- knitted at the time.

Cowichan design in cream hue with motorcycle design, shawl collar, hip pockets and metal ‘Lightning’ front zip. All wool.

This cardigan is in good condition. Small mend by pocket. Zip works but is a bit lax (stays in place when tab is pressed).

I would estimate this cardigan to best fit a Men’s S/M or Women’s M, depending on required fit but please look at measurements below:

Pit to Pit 19”

Length 26”

Sleeves 23”

Across Hips (measured flat) 19”
